The Kingdom

Hola! I will tell you a funny story on me. So when I first got to Guatemala everyone here says hola, like hello in the states. Now being the southern girl that I am I wanted to respond back but my brain got the hola and the hello intertwined and out of my mouth came HOLLA! We all laugh about it here and I smile each time I think of it!

Many of you have asked the question, what are you doing in Guatemala? I myself have asked that as well at times and most importantly what is God doing? I thought I would give a little run down of what a week looks like for the team / family here.

We have a weekly schedule here at the base. Sometimes our schedule will changed due to circumstances that take priority. We have Bible and prayer 3 days a week, family meals several times a week, which most nights consist of hosting either short term mission teams that are in Antigua or families that are here long term or maybe people that our team / family members have cultivated relationships with in the market, while shopping or taking Spanish lessons, etc. We also have household duties and shopping that has to be done.

God is working here, and how he works is through building relationships. We cannot skip this process. I have found myself wanting to measure what God does here. Even typing that sounds crazy, really, measure GOD?? He reminded me through a night while cooking “real popcorn” here. I was accustomed to microwave popcorn, 3.5 minutes to be in the bowl ready to eat! The “real popcorn” took 15 minutes just to start popping!!! I thought of how I want results / popcorn sooner. The Kingdom of God has been called the upside down kingdom. Basically what we “think” is different from God, God is not on our time frame or to be measured. Jesus said first the blade, then the stalk and then the kernel. The popcorn before getting to me has been through a process. This process cannot be rushed or a step skipped, it would not produce properly. The Bible says that some plant, some water but God causes the growth…..I love the God we serve! He keeps showing me that my responsibility is to HIM, he does the rest. So it is here in Guatemala, only God knows all the people that see a “family” here that is an example of the Body of Christ. One thing for sure, God is about people, loving others and HE is the one to produce the growth and measure the results…..Actually….HIS Kingdom is the RIGHTside up Kingdom…..I just need to turn. His Kingdom come His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven!

Blessings!
